Work Place Giving
Thursday, July 21, 2011

Workplace giving programs allow employees to make regular donations to eligible charities, such as the Newborn Intensive Care Foundation, through their employer’s payroll system.

Employers and their staff can choose to donate to any organisation they like as long as the organisation is eligible to receive tax deductible gifts, that is, the organisation must be a deductible gift recipient (DGR). Fortunately, the Newborn Intensive Care Foundation is a DGR.

Employees benefit because most people will get a tax benefit in their pay every time they donate.

See below for further information on workplace giving. If you would like to talk to someone about workplace giving and you are an employer please call 13 28 66. If you are an individual or an employee please call 13 28 61. Alternatively you can go to:

Community CPS Foundation – NICF Humidicrib Appeal
Thursday, January 15, 2009

LIFE SHOULDN’T BE A STRUGGLE WHEN YOU ARE 2 HOURS OLD…

Community CPS has been supporting the Newborn Intensive Care Foundation since 2004 and following the establishment of the Community CPS Foundation in August 2007, this support has continued to grow.

Canberra’s Newborn Intensive Care Foundation urgently required the support of the Canberra Community to purchase a second mobile humidicrib. The purchase of the first humidicrib in 2004 was made possible through the incredible generosity of our local community. Community CPS took a leading role in raising the funds required and we have now been able to place an order for a second  humidicrib.

FOUNDATION FUNDS TRAINING
Thursday, January 15, 2009

In 2002, the NICF agreed to fund Jan Shedden, a long term neonatal nurse from the Unit, to gain a Nursing Practitioner qualification in New Zealand.

At that time there was no suitable institution or university in Australia to offer the qualification and opportunity for graduation to a Nurse Practitioner role. The Foundation is assisting the Neonatology Unit in their long term goal of involving Nurse Practitioners more actively in a significant role in the care of the newborn within their intensive care.

Jan’s role when she returned to Canberra Hospital was to institute a Nurse Practitioner program so that others from the Unit can gain the qualification. The aim is to have 6 – 8 Nurse Practitioners actively working within the Centre for Newborn Care in any given year.
